Tales Toronto is a monthly storytelling show where true and traditional tales come to life.

Held on the second Tuesday of each month at The Tranzac, Tales Toronto brings together experienced performers and emerging voices to share stories that entertain, inspire, and connect us. From personal experiences to timeless folk tales, each show offers a mix of perspectives and styles.

An important part of the evening includes a post-performance discussion, giving storytellers and audience members a chance to reflect, ask questions, and engage more deeply with the stories shared.

Whether you’re here to listen, learn, or share a tale of your own, we’d love for you to be part of it.

2026 Story Slam

We're excited to announce that Tales Toronto is partnering with Storytelling Toronto to produce the 2026 STORY SLAM on Feb. 28!

What’s a story slam? A story slam is a live storytelling event where a selected group of tellers share a story (6-7 minutes) on a specific theme. The story is shared from memory (no notes!) and a panel of judges will provide feedback and share their impressions of the story. Finally, the audience, by secret ballot, will join the judges in voting to determine a pair of lucky winners. (But after a fun evening of storytelling, everyone’s a winner!)

What’s the theme? “Whoops!” Bad ideas make great stories.

How does it work? After each performance, a panel of 3 judges will share their feedback and impressions on the story.

Following the ten stories, there will be an intermission, at which time the audience will vote on a winner from each category. The winners will be determined based on the audience and judges' vote.
